I have to say it's the first Audi that convinces me as a real sports car, the engine is a success, and the rest is up to the task, making it a very potent all around car. I repeatedly measured 50 to 160 km/h in less than 10s (around 9.8) in 3rd ...
Not much to criticize except short gearing meaning high revs at highway speeds (can't have it all) and a gas tank that won't take you very far.
The comparison with the E92 M3, when it eventually comes out, will be interesting as the M3 will hopefully be lighter, but at these power and torque levels, AWD could make an interesting difference out of tight corners.
The RS4 has the taste of 996TT A-B efficiency, but with the purity of a naturally aspirared, high revving, cross-plane crank engine. A very good car, and Audi knew it when they priced it.
