Neat.

Yes shame about the lack of manual but all the luxury cars are going this way it seems. You even used to be able to get Mercedes SL's, Jag XJ's, BMW 7's and Audi S8's all as manuals.

Anyway the Audi's auto can't be that inferior to the M5's SMG... probably 95% of the buyers would prefer it!

Reading more about this and it is in fact slightly down on power to the S8 (this is 420bhp - the S8 is 444bhp; and the RS4 414bhp for reference) but is most likely to have the same autobox, with Bovingdon in Evo reckons was great, almost comparable to the DSG box for smooth shifts (in 'manual' mode).

Given the S8 is £70K, I would guess at around the £60K mark for this, pitching it head on with the M5.

I agree, BMW 1 : Audi 0.

No it will be cheaper than the M5.. and the RS6 a little more expensive but also more powerful.

That's the way it's always been they'd be mad to price it with/above the M5.

How much is an RS4? £48K is it? I guess there is room then to undercut the M5 without disrupting sales/image of the smaller car too much.
