We have just taken delivery of a 52 plate A4 Saloon and having driven the car home on saturday it has come to light that the heater isn't working properly.

There is only heat coming out of the left hand dash vent, the rest of the vents are blowing cold air even with the setting on Hi.

Also, when I switch on the Aircon, I was expecting to hear the compressor unit "click in" and to see a slight change on the rev counter, but there was nothing. Is this normal for an audi aircon unit?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Car is back at dealer today, been chasing all day only to get told 10 minutes ago that it has just gone in to the workshop. So that will be at least wednesday before they get any necessary parts.

Thanks

There is a safety feature on Audis whereby if the ambient temp is below a certain level (3degrees C but I stand to be corrected. It is low though) the compressor will not kick in. Mine is a 98 and can clearly be seen by virtue of the fact that the snowflake emblem on the Climate LCD does not come on.

No idea why cold air is coming from some of he vents. Sticky servos not doing as they should perhaps.

I never notice any noise or drop/raise in revs when I switch the climate control on on my 02 plate A4. I think modern cars have worked around this problem somehow.
