Having done a search I I've decided for sub sub £1k runabout, this would be the most fun possible, while maintaining some sensibility and good running costs, so the task now is to find and buy one...

I've checked the usual sources, PH and AutoTrader, but are there any specialists sites that would be recommended, or would these likely contain the modded cars and those held in such high regard by the owner so as to be overpriced?

Any advise appreciated.

Thanks

Cheers, not too many 16Vs out there right now, but a good selection of 8Vs very close, will keep an eye on what's going through.

Try www.edition38.com or www.clubgti.co.uk and look in the 'Cars for sale' section.

I had to travel 200 miles for my 8v!

Also try the classifieds on www.performancevwmag.com and www.thegolf.co.uk
Good luck in the search mate!

Afraid so, £1k is my limit on this, otherwise "sensible" will spiral out of control.

Shame you weren't a bit quicker. You could have had one for free! www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=231449&f=86&h=0

I know, bit gutting that, I'd switched off my office during the Christmas break in an attempt to keep paying a visit to PH when I should be entertaining family - to my cost it would seem

But glad to hear both cars are with happy PH owners now.
