I bought this car in October 2005 brand new from a Volkswagen dealership and so far it has 3000 miles on the clock. I've noticed that if I'm driving with my foot off of the accelerator (like you do), when I put it back on again to accelerate there is a slight squeek.

Also, when I go over bumps in the road there is the same noise wether my foot is on the accelerator or not. I've tried bouncing the front of the car by hand to see if it's the suspension but I don't hear anything. It only does it when the car is in motion, it dosen't do it if I rev the engine or press the accelerator with the engine off. It sounds like the noise is coming from the front of the car somewhere.

What could it be?

Front suspension bushes need greasing.

Cheers,
Rob.

Cheers :-)

I'll have to take it into VW, don't have much time lately though because I've been working 6 days a week and the service dept isn't open Sundays. I can't believe they need doing already, it's only 2 months old! Will it be OK to drive until I take it in in the next week or so?

Well, it sounds like exaclty the same thing that happened to my mothers Astra (and i've seen a few other cars do it too). It shouldn't cause any damage to keep driving it if that is indeed the case, just make sure they do a good job of greasing them up, we've been back to the dealer 3 times already - bloody useless!

Hope it gets sorted,
cheers,
Rob.

Ah, the joy of dealerships!

I hope toget some time off this week so I'll pop in and see what they say, there's some speed bumps in the dealer's car park - perfect place for them to hear the squeek!

Thanks
Damien.
