I've used Castrol GTX Magnatec "for basic engines" (15W-40 I think it is) for much of my Corrado VR6's 9 year life with no problems at all.

Go to www.the-corrado.net...

I'm using mineral oils now since my stem seals are worn and need redoing :-(

Engine was rolling roaded to still be putting out 189.3 BHP though..not bad for a 12 year old engine :-)

VW recommended oil for this engine is 15W40 part synthetic. GTX Magnatec is perfect for that purpose, as is VW's own "Synta" oil.

I advice you to use half synthetic oil though...My VR6 acted bad on full syn...took lots of oil, not so with the half syn
