Are Lupos available as turbo diesels, or only unblown?

Hi Ed,

Hows things? Ready for Chrimbo?

I think they also come with the 1.9tdi found in the Golf (could be wrong though)

Supposed to be quite nippy and still return 50mpg+

Just been looking at Parkers website and it appears I was lying!

I can see a 1.7 Sdi listed.

60bhp, 0-60 16.3s, MPG 64 and Group 3 insurance.

The 1.4 Sport is as follows:

98bhp, 0-60 9.7s, MPG 41 and Group 6 insurance.

The 1.6 GTi is as follows:

125bhp, 0-60 8.0s, MPG 38 and Group 11 insurance.

How about a Daewoo Matiz if your after a cheap run about?

Get the slightly larger Ibiza or Fabia if you want the 130PD

Or do what Jabbasport did when they wanted to go racing. Stick a 1.8T in it

I believe that was actually a Carvell VW Cup car which Jabba did the engine work for

I know there are a couple out there with the 20v T lump - nice. Mind you, I think I actually prefer the idea of the Ibiza 160 TDi engine being transplanted. Loads of power and torque, lighter than a Fabia, and still returning silly MPG!!

I owned a 1.7 SDi diesel Lupo for 80k miles.

Had to rebuild the engine at 78000 miles, oil pressure issue which was never resolved --- even at the rebuild, after which it was using a litre of oil per 1000 miles. Yuk.

To mention nothing of the 40k cambelt changes.

For me it was just too much expense on what should have been a very inexpensive car.

Incidentally, we bought it new and the first was rejected for gearbox and engine management system failures. So the above was our replacement.

Our one year older 122k mile Yaris was kept in preference to the Lupo. Says it all I think.

Mate of mine dropped a 'chipped' 1,8 Turbo lump in his Lupo...apparently had a few 'Traction problems' when he floored it!

I run a standard Lupo GTI,

46mpg on the motorway, around 33mpg around town, however I do have a heavy right foot.

Great car, owned it for 3 years.

Try clublupo.com for more information
