How Much for a 1.8T

Thinking of trying to sell my Golf 1.8T privately instead of part exing to get a bit more cash.
Is this realistic with Xmas just weeks away? What do you chaps think I might get for it ?
Its a Metallic Black 1.8T Gti 5 door 2001 Y reg with 40K and FSH.

You could possibly get £8500 for selling privately.

Probably around £6500 - £6800 if you traded it in, as said above the 'retail' is more like £8500 but that assumes a main dealer forecourt, warranty, valet, no faults and a bunch of flowers for the wife.

Privately I'd pitch it somewhere between the two prices, say £7950 but you may struggle over the christmas period...

Ive been looking on the net - the forecourt price is about 8-8.5k.
Ive seen them on autotrder - mix of non main dealer and private from 6k-7.5.
Think I'll pitch mine at 7250 as its low mileage but if the dealers offerme 6.5 for a part ex I may just take it cause if all the hassle and Xmas lull etc.
