Mk 2 Gti Oil Pressure Buzzer
Discussion
Hi to everyone. Can anyone help me: My 8v MK2 1988 GTi has developed an annoying habit: above 2000rpm the oil pressure buzzer sounds and will not stop! Any idea how to rememdy this? Of course, you're all saying "check the oil pressure you idiot!" but I was wondering if it might be something that's easily remedied...
(By the way, please forgive me if this is a no-brainer!)

Check the oil pressure.
Check the oil levels.
Check the oil pressure switch (take the wire off and wire it to ground to see whether the system is working as it should.)
If both are OK, service the car and make sure that you use a very good flushing oil and run it for 15mins (only on idle) with this in before draining again and filling up with a good semi-synth.
If this doesn't work, take the sump off and check for blockages in the oil pick-up.
Oli.

I had this on a 16vCorrado, changed pressure switches- still the same, changed the oil pump- still the same grrr eventually just had the fecker earthed out. Think it may have been an issue with the dash.
Just as an aside tho ive always had oil pumps changed on my old Vws its cheap (about £25) & quick to do. I didnt on one Golf it went bang!

I had this the other day, I'd only changed the oil the other week - the buzzer decided that it wanted to have an eppy' - checked oil level and that was spot on, check to see whether oil splashed out of the top of the engine when running (oil pump and pressure) - yup (wipes face) and so I scratched me head...
Happened a few times, and now it's just gone away
Lets hope it stays that, else I'll be doing Iguana's trick...
