I own a New Beetle which my mum uses, so it gets very little in the way of t.l.c.

I've just borrowed it from her for a while and although it drives just fine, there are all sorts of niggles - the engine warning light is on; the water warning light comes on and goes off (there's plenty of coolant); The OS headlight is falling out of the socket; and there's probably more.

So, I probably need a decent garage in or near Central/NW London - independent, ideally (it's a 2.0 W reg car so I don't need main dealer stamps, just gifted engineering).

And I probably need to join an owners' club to ask people what else is going to go wrong... Anyone recommend one? I googled, but there are hundreds and I'd rather go with a PH Massive recommendation.

Any suggestions?

I should point out that this W reg car has just 13k miles on the clock - it really is used by a little old lady to run to the shops!

I've just bought a new Bug and the water coolant light seems nothing to worry about if it's blue when you start up. As far as I know, this means the coolant temp is below optimum and is pretty standard on all bugs. It should go out within a minute or so of pulling away.

As for forums, I've found the forum on www.newbeetle.org.uk/ to be pretty useful

Ohh, added to that I have read that it's important to check the oil regularly on these cars - every 1,000 miles or so even

Cheers for that. Good link!

Any thoughts on a good indie VW engineer?

Sorry - only got 200 miles on the clock!
