No worries- can't help thinking you're making what is a not that easy task more tricky by being that specific about colour though...

...given the number of them about, if you really want that colour you may be better off getting whatever good one you can find, and a respraying....

Don't even think about respraying one - it'll be a nightmare and never look right, and massively reduce the value.

Of all the 20 valves red ones are easiest to find, and I know of two low-ish mileage ones that have changed hands in the year.

Having said that, why the fixation with low miles? Meachanically they seem to be almost indestructible. Mine has done 175000 plus miles nad just needs a new turbocharger and damn good tidy up.

Yes I did say low miles, but any thing under 100K will do, as long as it has a full history!!.
This will be one car I'll keep for the rest of my days, so it has to be right.

Not Red and *I think* its slightly too old to be a 20v, but sounds interesting nevertheless..........

Also, just a thought, see if these guys can help www.the80semporium.co.uk

Gah, curse my wonky knowledge of quattros. That looks a bit too old for a 20v as you say. Can't find any reason other than it not having the right steering wheel, although there will be loads of things i've forgotten about.

I see your point. In that case I suggest your best bet is to join the quattro owners club and check out the classifieds, or you can look at their older classifieds online. Roger Galvin at www.thequattroworkshop.co.uk has a nice black one for sale at the moment but obviously wrong colour, too many miles...

You'll have to change your login name to Ian2226 if you buy an RR.

Sorry.

Why red? As Yertis says, it's probably the easiest one to find, but I prefer the metallic colours.

Oh and please don't respray it!

ok- I take back my respray comment....

My point was that I wouldn't rule out ones in a different colour unless red really is a 'must have'

I owned a red WR for almost 10 years, so it just has to be!!....I'm a fully paid up member of the QOC, and know Roger Galvin from the quattro workshop personally.

Just expanding my search a bit thats all, the more ears to the ground the better.

I'm debating whether or not to restore my RR or just flog it as it is and buy a another WR... I really miss that WR/MB throb.

But the RR is something else, so I'll probably keep it.

See profile - Titan Grey Metallic. I will restore it, and properly too, no doubt at ludicrous expense...

Speaking of expense and going completely OT, mine failed its MOT at lunchtime. I think I'm about to experience the costlier side of quattro ownership for the first time...

Damn and bugger.

Leaky rear damper and the bearing at the top of the front strut - the one that allows the strut to turn with the steering. Not too bad (and the guy said it was in really good condition apart from that), but I remember doing one of those front strut bearings on my Mk1 Golf many years ago and it was a bit of a pain.

Just need to find the bits a bit sharpish now.

Anyway, enough of this thread hijack...

I find myself drawn to that Amazon Blue early WR Roger is/was selling on behalf of someone else... don't know if it's still available though. Might have to phone the man.
