Working for VW I can now say that the official launch will be on 18th November - check out www.newgolfr32.co.uk for more info. Should be a storming car - old one feels very much shadowed by new GTI and MK5 in general in terms of handling etc. Looks good the new one?! Driving it 3rd Oct so will report back on how it is!

Looks OK, but I don't like the two exhaust pipe's close together it's to much like the Renault Sport car's, and that cheapens it.

Its alright but not worth the silly money they are asking for it.

Agree about the styling; looks like a dog's breakfast at the back with the silly exhaust positioning.

Hideous. The old R32 hit it just right. This new one looks dull, dull, dull.

I beg to differ. £24,000 for a medium sized, 3-door hatchback (even if it does have an overweight, lazy V6 engine) is too much.

6 disc CD player as an option? That's just greedy! Even poverty-spec Octavias get that as standard.

Well I have now driven the R32 manual and DSG. Both pretty good although as a personal preferance I would go for manual. May not be quite as quick to 60 (6.5 as apposed to 6.2) but more enjoyable to drive in my opionion. At the launch also drove (to compare) the 130i BMW, Impreza STI WRX, A3 3.2 DSG et al.

Not going to be many about with each dealer being allocated one and then being allowed to supply between 4 and 7 depending on the size of the dealership.

Our demo arrived yeasterday - Manual five door in Shadow Blue with Anthracite leather. Looks the ****ocks!

Came up behind a grey one in Aberdeen this morning, the exhausts are not my cup of tea.

Had a look at a new R32 in a showroom yesterday.

Don't like the exhausts at all. The paint finish was frankly disgraceful. Full of orange peel and one or two 'bits' in the paint on the rear quarter.

The way the sill extentions are fitted is dire - they look very aftermarket.

Don't think it looks evenhalf as impressive as the old R32.

What its like to drive I don't know. I was so disappointed by what I saw I didn't proceed further.
