The infamous self-destructing coil packs.
A 2003 car will be right on the borderline for the updated (more reliable) parts. Might be worth getting a spare or 2 just in case.
Clutch master cylinder has cold weather issues. You may find the pedal on the floor after a cold night. It will pull back up and work normally afterwards though. Updated parts are available, should take about 30 minutes to change.
Brake light switches have been known to stick.
If the car has any warranty remaining, all the above will be covered.
As for tuning, a decent remap (Jabba / APR etc) will see in the region of 220 Bhp.
