Hello

Looking at buying a 2017 Audi tt s line but the dealer has been faffing around with getting the service history for me. All they’ve provided so far is the years the car has been serviced (17/19 Audi 2 year interval) and 21/26 with this dealer.

They said they are contacting Audi for more information on service record but number 1 red flag is the gap between 21 and 26.

I also am waiting to see what exactly the recent 26 service included. I can see from the MOT history the car has 39,000 miles last year and 42,000 now. Is it fair to expect that they should have serviced the DSG box and if not, that I ask them to do so or walk away? Or is that being a bit dramatic when I could ask them to drop the price and get it done myself?

My understanding is they really should be done on time or you’re at risk of a big bill.

And if you start offering that car around the trade you'll get "sorry, not for me"

Most dealers selling prestige cars want a decent, full, history.

Other less prestige dealers will buy it, but not at CAP clean.

Wait for another to come along with better history.

I'm not exactly sure, but at some point DSG became a sealed unit and no longer required a fluid service at 40k miles or 4 years.

Not on that car, it's 40k intervals for sure.

Send me the reg or chassis, will look up history for you.

Dealer talking rubbish, there's no need to 'contact Audi'. You log on to Erwin and look. It takes seconds and is free.

If its a 2017 its possibly got the DQ381 which is 8 year/80k.

Still overdue regardless though.

Sticks.

Mine's a 2017 (TTS) on 45k. I've recently had the DSG service done plus inspection, oil, filter, brake fluid. Plugs and Haldex were done last time. I did a DSG reset afterwards and it's running as well or better than ever.

I'm sure you've had a close look at the tyres too - good ones are expensive and last about 15k.

One of the other issues was the fact that one of the tyres had a cut in it and they weren’t even going to bother changing it. Worringly it failed the MOT for that specific reason a couple of weeks ago then passed a few days later according to gov website, despite the cut still obviously being there…

Thanks to Dr G for confirming there’s no record of service history online so all there is some evidence of is 4 services and only 1 in the last 5 years. They confirmed the most recent service was only oil and filter change etc.

I told them to forget it thinking that’d be the end of it but they came back offering to reduce the price (it was already the lowest price I could find for that year/spec/mileage). They have now also offered to change the tyre with the cut and carry out the gearbox service.
