My S5 (B8.5) is just about due its first gearbox service, anyone had this done recently? Just wondering (dreading) what the going rate is… don’t mind dealer or specialist. Ta.

Are you sure it is due, just booked my car in expecting it to be done and they advised service interval changed from 40K to 80K

I’m having done regardless, the car is a keeper which I’ve had since virtually new, it’s 10 yrs old in March and on 33k so near as damn it due. My service book says 38k so they must have changed it.

Agree with your logic, I am going to do the same but not this time will wait a couple of years as I do very low mileage.

Different box on the Fwd cars like the Leon. The whole sump tray comes off the gearbox on the longitudinal engined cars such as the A4/5/6 and upwards.

I'm afraid they are mistaken, it's 40k miles on this car.

Area of £250-300; don't be surprised if garage ask you to leave it with them. Whilst the oil-change itself isn't particularly time consuming there is a process with oil temperatures that must be followed carefully that can mean the car waiting around for a while.

I will check with them again, it is the main Skoda dealer who stated this?

Yes, I’ve been watching videos on YouTube how it’s done, to be honest I could do it myself as regular home spanner weilder with Vagcom but no access to a ramp.

Thanks for all the replies chaps… thumbup

My experience - they wanted it in for a day.

I was going to do it myself but that oil temp/level check malarky put me off, and you need a code reader for it. And for £220 all in it wasn't worth the hassle.
