1.9/2l bi turbo tdi engines - ruinous?
Discussion
I'm looking at a 2012-2016 vw 4 motion transporter or caravelle. It seems the 140 single turbos are fine, no egr/intake issues but the 180 cfca biturbo gets panned with huge oil consumption. There are things about models of egr but it never seems to go away.
Is this akin to 996 IMS/bore scoring or more prevalent than that? The forums seem full of tales of blown engines.
Then there's the newer 204 bhp common rail (I think) engine from about 2016. They seem much better but any experiences?
The VWs do get properly expensive by then mind, £30k+ so I'd hope they have an engine that works. It's a commercial vehicle after all.
