Touran.... TDI 190 Remapping
Discussion
Hi Folks,
We've just called no joy with our Discovery 4 after some persistent engine issues over the last couple of months, and ended up getting a really quite brilliantly spec'd 2017 R-Line Touran (DSG, Pan Roof, Discover Nav, Leather, Winter Pack, Heated Screen, Self Park, blah blah blah). It's a family bus to go alongside our other cars, and nearly doubling the MPG and probably halving the other running costs is probably sensible...
Now, the performance is actually surprisingly decent all things considered - its obviously a better handling car than the Discovery 4, quite an amount lighter - but I was wondering if anyone had remapped their TDI 2017 era TDI 190 engines, and in real terms if it was worthwhile.
I'd probably prefer to take it to a proper rolling road place than just a plug in map, so was thinking about giving R-Tech a call.

I run a Superchips remap on a 184hp 2016 GTD with DSG 'box, taking it to somewhere around the 220hp & 320lb.ft mark. I'm not familiar with the 190hp version of this engine but certainly the consensus on the 184hp is that claims of power above 220hp are optimistic for a remap.
As it is, my remapped GTD is a strong performer and offers ideal amounts and distribution of power for a daily driver. It's very strong all round, especially on the motorway and in those shorter applications of power that daily driving is mainly made of. Limitations are only really obvious if you try to drive it at high revs or want power for longer periods.
