Audi/VAG 2.0 TDI Engines (2012-2016)
Discussion
Hi all,
Trying to gather some information on the 2.0 TDI engine. They seem to come in a variety of power options and from reading topics on various forums, some more reliable than others. The 140hp version seems to be the more reliable option. The 170/177hp (CGLC code) engine is generally reliable but came across several topics with oil pressure issues, limp mode, etc.
I've now recently come across a 150hp variant. Anyone have any experience or knowledge on these? Can't find much online. Wondering if they are just a 140 with a different map for the Sport spec cars.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

the earlier 140/170 engines will be EA189 engine
the later 150/184 engines are the EA288.
On Golf and Leon's the changeover was 2013 with the introduction of the MQB platform and new mk7 golf and mk3 Leon.
The EA189 was the emissions scandal engine.
I've owned 2 EA288 engines, covering over 100K miles. Both suffered failure of the in tank fuel pump and control module.
