S5 new owner - couple. Of questions
Discussion
Hi all
Just picked up an S5 which I'm delighted about but have a couple of questions.
Is it supposed to come with Android auto and if so, how on earth to I connect my phone? I have it connected via BT for audio streaming and calls etc but cannot find AA anywhere.
During the test drive it worked oddly.
Also, do they not come with folding mirrors?
Finally, I've seen different opinions on the gearbox oil and when it needs changing. Can anyone confirm? Thanks

2016 A4 owner here....
You need to press "menu" then navigate down past all the other functions like car etc, and find the option that states "Android Auto" worth noting if your phone isn't corrected correctly, it will state "Smartphone interface" once it's connected to your phone this will morph into Android Auto.
I admit it feels strange at first, as it's almost like they bolted it on as an after thought (maybe they did with 2015 B9 launch technological eyes) as it's nowhere near all the other media options.
Another top tip.....get yourself an AA wireless module for around 60quid. I've had once since they launched, it works flawlessly, plug into the the USB and then your phone connects every time while still in your pocket and you don't need to think about it.
Also worth mentioning, the default, via cable method. Would not auto play when you get in the car from what I can remember, meaning you have to actually cycle through the menu option and select it every time you get in the car. The AA wireless module has an option in it's settings that will overcome this, and actually force it into the active mode it was in on the last exit of the car.
And no...folding mirrors (I have them) were quite a rare option at the time

Thanks all.
AA all working perfectly now albeit my pixel 7a gets very hot which I don't remember happening in my Cupra when using AA. Will monitor.
May get one of the wireless dongles as it is a faff plugging and unplugging etc.
Really happy with the car. Sounds amazing. Love that it's quick and fun etc when I want it to be but very smooth and comfy when it needs to be.
A couple of things to sort on it, Audio for one as it's awful. Loud enough but all bass & treble but no mid range.
Absolutely over the moon with it and will do a readers car at some point.

The Bose I had on mine was crap. I listened to another PH ers standard system and it was arguably better as it didn’t rattle the interior as much. I’m now in a 5 series with HK and it’s absolutely night and day different - best stereo I’ve ever had. Maybe you have mine !
