That's not even the biggest problem, the 1.8 tsi was an absolute lemon of an engine, coked up oil control rings resulted in them frequently burning a couple of litres of oil every 1000 miles. They improved this with later generations of the ea888 but I'd tread very carefully with anything 1.8 from this era.Rob 131 Sport said:

That's exactly what I had with 4wd.Loved it. Did 50 odd to the gallon anywhere, 30 quid a year to tax, seemingly well built...No issues in 30000 miles, comfy, quiet at a cruise.
One of few cars I genuinely miss for it's practicalities. The boot and rear legroom is massive.
