A member of a car group I'm in has amember with the above titled car, unfortunately for them the timing chain guide went on bank 1 and bent valves, they are finding it very difficult to find a garage that will do the work required to fix, anyone have any suggestions?

They are based in Herefordshire but willing to travel if needed
Unit 20 will not touch it as they do not work on the C5 platform anymore

I'd suggest trying the rs246.com forums.

I do all the work on my RS6 c5 myself, including engine work but *touch wood* not had to go further than timing belt and inlet manifold removal.

There was a place near Northampton (Quinton) that did a lot of work on my RS6 C5 when I had one…. That was about 10years ago, not sure if they’re still there.

Really needs to be a call to MRC - but join the RS246 forum and post in the C5 RS6 section - Ben, Steve and others know all the right contacts,

Without wishing to be a doom monger, I suspect it might be quite tricky to sort - all depends on finding someone with the spares you need, ideally potentially a complete cylinder head, or even full engine and then mix & match to make the best of the pair. I suspect it had been making a clattery noise on startup for some time before the chain guides let go completely?

I'd make MRC the first call and only consider others if they can't. The C5 platform is old now, spares and actual skills for the C5 RS6 are both very thin on the ground these days. But the forum will head you in the right direction, IIRC someone is actually commissioning a set of crank shells for the motor, for example.

The RS6 owner has already spoken with MRC, they informed me....."They don’t do engine work or take engines out as it takes up too much time on the ramp. They just want to do pop and bang maps basically as it’s easy."

A bit late to the party, but stevegreen_rs on instagram is the man to chat to. He has a garage, Quattro Clinic in Derby and knows his way around a c5.. with over 20 breakers in stock to salvage parts from. Should be getting mine back from him in a couple of weeks!
