So.. First Audi, i've been ejected from the BMW Brotherhood
Discussion
I pick up my first ever Audi this week. 2021 A4 Avant Back Edition 35TFSI with Comfort and Sound pack. Reasonable level of equipment i think with virtual cockpit and upgraded audio, 360 cam etc. But all I really need is ability to stream to it from spotify or whatever for audiobooks. I don't think it has car play but might be able to be retrofitted. Not a priority.
After accepting the £600 (!) tax that i have to pay for the next couple of years just because the car had an original £40k sticker price i did a deal and job jobbed.
Anyone have the same or similar and have you mde any small changes to make it your own? Decades of modifying cars beyond recognition are long done o at the minute all i'm going to do is change the silver rings to satin black (which i thought was standard with the black edition, but maybe not for this year).
It's never going to impress in the power department but it's being bought to be the single car we'll use, going from a 2 car house to the one and being an estate will help with the tip rins. Fiture plan will be a tow bar to cart the daughters horse around but it's pretty much at it's towing limit with one (slightly podgy) pony and a horsebox.
I was reading that the 35TFSI-MHEV (rolls off the tongue, eh ) isn't actually a hybrid in the sense of plug in-able but uses a small electric motor to help with the stop start / coasting regen or whatever. I'm no MPG warrior but looking forward to wafting along albeit not exactly in full comfort with low profile tyres and slightly lowered ride height.

We had a 2017 2.0TFSI 252ps Quattro until about 18 months ago. Had the Black Pack which for some odd reason had chrome badges too, can't remember where I ordered black rings from but someone out of one of my Performance VW mags. Spent an afternoon with the hairdryer and T-Cut and it all looked much better after. I had the wheels done in anthracite grey but that was it. Had big plans but it was my wife's car and I ended up driving it about 3 times a year mainly on long family journeys so never did anymore to it.
Would thoroughly recommend the All In plan Audi do. It wasn't the most reliable car (fingers crossed yours will be, ours was an early B9) and the plan more than paid for itself.

35 TFSI is only a 1.5? Yeah, your modifying days are over with that car then Not sure why the Germans are messing with the badging. 2.0TDI or whatever used to mean something! Same with BMW and Mercedes. Probably an effort to disguise the humble and less than impressive powertrains they now sport.
2021 should definitely have Carplay/Android.

The numbers are an equivalency to represent that a "35" has a relative level of performance and position in the range between petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric...
Thanks for that. Audis recent badging had me confused. So an A4 1000000 TFSI is top dog then?
Better off not denoting performance on the tailgate at all as its pretty meaningless now.

I didn't know they were only 1.5 but in all honesty it picks up pace at a rate i'm happy with. Makes the road tax even harder to swallow i suppose but ho hum.
Yah, I had to suffer the luxury car tax with my used BMW as well. Annoying, but c'est la vie.I didn't mean any disrespect with 'only 1.5', I was just shocked such a big car has a relatively small engine. Lots of boost makes up for low cubic capacity

No worries. No offence taken. I think it has a very small supercharger and a very small turbo which fills in much of the gap in the torque. I didn't mean any disrespect with 'only 1.5', I was just shocked such a big car has a relatively small engine. Lots of boost makes up for low cubic capacity
Of course I’m looking at mapping it “for efficiency” but not sure if that’s a risky approach on an already complicated engine.
All Audi A4 B9s, from 2015 onwards have all had Carplay and Android Auto as standard. So no concerns there.
Something that may not be a given though is being able to use wirelessy, The pre-FL certainly doesn't have this option, and I don't think the post-FL (your car) does either.
This may or may not bother you, having to plug a cable in each time. Not sure about Carplay, but for Android Auto there's loads of dongles on the market now that plug in to the USB port, and then connect to the phone wirelessly meaning the phone never needs to leave your pocket. I use the AA wireless version (was the first) and it works seamlessly, leave plugged in and it connects every time wirelessly and barely remember it's there.

Thanks, my car does have wireless car play and is very handy indeed. i've had car play before in another car and didn't know i wanted it until i didn't have it. Interestingly, and having just got the v5 the car is actually a 2.0l, not a 1.5l previously thought.
