Hello forum

I am searching to buy a new car and have a budget of upto £10000. I originally planned to spend less but as i’d hope to keep it for a few years I think worth spending more to get something from the last decade.

I’m looking for a petrol with awd. Came across plenty 1.8T under budget but i’m after a 2.0 TFSI S-Line Quattro. Also seen few fwd manual cars which is basically a golf gti afaik but i’m drawn to the awd. Plus the interior of the TT makes the pre fl golf and a3 look dated imo. I see some early S3 8V under 10K but I feel they could be rough at this price point. As far as DSG v Manual i’m not picky, I understand the clutch is a weak point on manuals but I imagine a DSG failure would be way pricier so potentially just something else to go wrong?

As above would consider an S3/S1 or A3 2.0T, basically i’m after the best awd 2.0T for my budget. As far as the mk3 2.0T Quattro what sort of price would be good to get one for? I see a lot of talk that the extra spec of the TTS is worth the extra spend but I definitely don’t require that performance. I’ve seen some 2015 TTS go for not far off £12K though which is tempting.

Mk3 TT start around £9k for a 2014 with >100k miles, usually diesel and FWD. More like £11k with petrol and AWD for a >100k miler. TTS start at £14k also with the bigger miles.

I’m probably going to spend £12K max. I don’t do lot of miles sub 10K annually. Just looking for best awd VAG car I can get for that price, if my money went further with a Golf R or S3 i’d be open to that though prefer TT interior.

Would it be such a bad idea to buy a 90K+ mile car? I know these engines are pretty common but i’m still aware that i’d be buying a car approaching 10 years old.

I believe the 2.0 Quattro only came with the dsg, but they did do a few of the TTS with a manual box, but I doubt they’ve slipped into your budget yet unless they are dog rough.
