Hello All,

I’m a bit of a quandary -

Have been to see a Golf GTI Mk7 2016 plate that is in great condition, very satisfactory test drive and arrived at a good deal with 6 month full warranty and 120 point inspection, full service and 12 month MOT on pick up.

Only issue is that the dealer can’t locate the service history other than a service at 41,000 miles. They have tried ringing around garages where car was MOT’d and contacted VW but to no avail.

Car is on 84,000 miles and only thing stopping me is not knowing the pre and post 41K service.

After any thoughts from the forum ?

Cheers

I'd personally like to see full history on a car like that but we are all different.
Does the price take account of no history?

Even if you have no issues with the car, when you come to sell it on or trade it in the missing history will cost you.
It is cheaper than an equivalent example with a good service history?
Get quotes from WBAC and the likes for a car with and without history to see what the difference in price is for no service history.

I assume you’ve vchecked the car or similar?

I’d be leaving it, if it were me.

Have you tried Googling the reg? Might find some previous owners?

Whilst there are a lot of scruffy ones around, it isn't a rare car. I'm with you.

..unless it's a screaming deal when you'd be forgiven for gambling on it.
