I had this it is a known issue it was fixed by new steering wheel They will do number of tests and system update but the fix is above I had a new wheel in December and no issues it drove me bonkers the bing bongs
A new steering wheel should fix the problem. This happened to a friend of mine with a 12 month old Golf mk8. The garage “seemed to know what the problem was” and changed the steering wheel straight away under warranty. Seems as though it’s a known fault.
Makes sense now ... it seems to happen as I start to steer.
Also, the wheel contains sensors connected with the travel assist and the emergency assist, as it's a model with the cruise control that detects if the driver is asleep and stops the car.
