A friend of mine is looking at the above car and we're trying to figure out if it has CarPlay. I've got the PR code printout and it has CarNet E-remote and factory Nav, but I can't see anything about AppConnect which is what it was called on my old GTE.

Anyone know how to tell or what the pack is called in the PR code list please?

I'm not sure, but in the absence of other answers, I think it became standard in 2018.

It can probably - but not certainly - be activated. ie: https://www.makcoding.co.uk/product/golf-mk7-appco...

My uncertainty is because wife had a very late mk1 Tiguan and that didn't have it and even though it was a factory option it turned out that when added at build they fitted a different USB set-up. The dealer price for the activation (if they could have done it) was £249.

Is the car a mk7 or 7.5? If the latter (with the glass screen) then carplay will be standard.

If it’s a mk7 it was an option that can easily be enabled by a dealer or a VW coder.

CarPlay compatible stereos (know as MIB2) were fitted from Mid 2015 onwards, so a 17 plate car should be capable regardless of whether it’s enabled or not.

It's a mk7 with MIB2. There are folks who can activate it for less money than VW IIRC?

Thank you thumbup

Is my post invisible? That was just the first I found when Googling - there's loads of these people around.

You can enable this on a Mk7 with MIB2 yourself, so long as you have a laptop with internet and ability to write an SD card. It's a bit fiddly and process-dependent, but I managed it - meaning it's literally foolproof. smile

Was on my phone trying out chrome with some weird formatting going on, so I didn't see it, sorry.

Yes, thank you.

I would like to know how to do this. I’ve seen eBay adds for the SD cards but if I can download something on to an SD card from my PC that would be great.
