Pal is selling his wife's 2009 3.0 tdi quattro s-line - 150000 miles but she has had it from new.

Audi history up to circa 80,000 then a couple of specialists / the local village mechanic (!)

Straight enough car and obviously the provenance is good but how cheap would I have to buy it to make it worthwile given that at some point I imagine it is gonna cr@p itself and cost me a preety penny.

Or should I worry not? Are these pretty robust?

Depends on how much of its original components its on ie clutch, turbo, dpf etc.
Could turn into a money pit but its all just guess work.
If its been well looked after and its cheap enough then it might be worth considering depending on your use.

It is an auto (is it steptronic or something on these) which apparently sh@t itself at circa 100k miles (belts or something?) and cost 2K for repairs at a gearbox place.

They want 6 grand for it.

S-tronic boxes on these iirc, so dual clutch auto. Any existing issues ought to be apparent on driving it. They can occasionally be hesitant when pulling away, especially if you have just come to a halt. 'They all do that sir' - true in this instance.

Is it the cheapest one currently on Autotrader? A lot of car for the money. Engine bay could do with a clean. getmecoat

10k miles per year, sounds like average miles to me. The mileage wouldn't put me off at all. If it drives ok and the price is reasonable it's a big plus that its only had 1 owner who you know.
