Considering a Mk3 TT, new to Audi
Discussion
Hi,
Looking at getting a TT as a daily. Budget £15k. I'm new to Audi so a bit loss with regards to spec packs and engines. I want petrol. Was thinking the 2 litre 230bhp motor, then get a remap later down the road if I really feel like it needs it.
I've always driven manuals and I'd probably prefer to stick to that unless there's a good argument not to? And AFAIK the quattro system only comes in auto, correct?
Do I need 4wd? Won't be going offroad or anything but if its safer and more fun in the wet then maybe. What kind of MPGs can you get out of them?
With regards to different packs, not too fussed about sat nav as long as the infotainment supports Android Auto so I can just use maps. I do like a good sound system though, but I also like gadgets so climate control, heated seats/wheel, auto lights, wipers etc are all welcome.
Finally, what are the weak points of these cars and what are the running costs and experience as a daily?
Thanks in advance

I recently purchased a 2016 TT 2.0 tfsi s line, with a manual gearbox - paid bang on £15k
S line is well worth getting, rather than a sport
2.0tfsi 230bhp is a decent strong engine and quick enough for my needs
Handling is very good and I have yet to really notice any issues with it being front wheel drive
On the day I collected my car from the trader, the clutch started slipping............ miles covered 47,000, so the entire clutch assembly was changed FOC to me
Research has now shown that even a standard car, has a weak clutch setup and wont really take a remap, so I would suggest a DSG gearbox
MPG is superb, I travel 100 miles a day, and get 42mpg
Dont worry about satnav, you can unlock satnav, carplay and update the virtual cockpit for under £250
I just have the standard stereo and its poor, and I am lead to believe even the B&O isnt much better
Mine has full Audi service history and I purchased a service pack, at reduced rate from Audi
All in all, I am really pleased with the car and its exceeded my expectations

Thanks for the insight. Can you not just get an upgraded clutch if you plan to remap rather than a DSG? I want to stick with manual but may want to stage 1 itS line is well worth getting, rather than a sport

Absolutely, clutch and flywheel can be upgraded, around £1500......
Remap will take you to over 300bhp
I'll be honest, I havent thought the car is lacking in performance at all, and another 70bhp could well spoil the dynamics of the car, so, for me, not a route I'll be going down
I have however fitted a K&N airbox lid, sports panel filter, removed the ice guard from the airbox, ramair silicone hose and turbo inlet pipe changed, along with a turbo muffler delete, all of which have helped pickup
