Hi Considering a ‘19 S3 but only has front & rear parking sensors. My preference would be for rear view camera. I’ve seen somewhere that most new (ish) cars have full wiring harnesses fitted as standard and it could be easy to connect ancillaries at a later date. Anyone know if a rear view camera could be retrofitted to this car? Cheers. Ian

It can be retrofitted but unlikely the harness is there.

Companies like VW retrofit can do it for I would guess for around £500 fitted.

The wiring harness will not be there.

I retrofitted Carplay to my S4 and also fitted a reversing camera at the same time. It connected to the carplay unit but they claim it can be a direct fit to various models including A3.

Comes with the wiring and costs significantly less than any of the above options though fitting would be extra.

I fitted it myself and it was easy enough, worst part is the trim removal in running the cable from tailgate to the dashboard, probably took me around an hour so not too much if you have to pay someone to do it.

Camera is here; https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/direct-fit-rear-re...

I drove up* from Kent to Glasgow and used these guys. Dougie - really nice guy did the install while I waited. He even wanted to replace the worn drain tube in the rear hatch for free, but in the end only had the Golf ones in stock which didn't fit.

* Made a road trip of it, met a friend in the evening and drove home the next day down the East Coast.

That location is even better as I’m in Edinburgh…however the car I was interested in was sold before I had a chance to look at it. …still looking but more likely later in year until it happens. .
