Just a question re the interior lights on Mk7 Golf GTi... the red illuminated strip on the doors. passenger side illuminates at the appropriate time whilst the drivers door is in darkness?? any ideas .. I know its not a major thing but I want to keep up to it so everything is working ..

Also the rear window wiper. When the stick is pushed forward the wiper starts but doesn't get back to the start position so you have to push on the stick a few times until the wiper completes the full range of motion and returns to start position.. Again hardly serious but any pointers would be helpful...

Finally for anyone who may have a similar issue ( its very common ) replacement heater matrix was done for £395 ( and they refitted interior mirror) it was blocked up by the silica beads. Anyway hot air again, happy days

Check the fuses for any simple issues first? Could well need a new led strip in the door card, I guess at ten years old that’s not bad going

Likely the LED strip has failed. To replace it though is a bit of a pig as the trims are plastic welded to the door cards (the locating pins are basically melted to hold them in place IIRC)

So you have to carefully remove all of these without damging anything else then melt down the new one with some kind of implement (solding iron or similar).

My GTD door sill trim has died on mine. You can't just buy the light up alumium bit, you have to replace the full sill trim unit at a cost of about £250 quid, so I have left it.

Has the rear wiper motor filled up with screenwash and starting to seize? Is that still a thing with later VW and Audi products?

I've seen a few later model Audis running around with an obviously seized rear wiper motor.

Yes, they're a bit crap. New motor time.

Just replaced mine on the S4 as it had a mind of it's own regarding how many wipes it would do and where it stopped when it finally finished, also dripping a little water into the boot.

Not too bad a job to fit, worst part is removing the trim panels and not silly money either, AFAIK Golfs use the same motor...

Probably shared with lots of other models, and aftermarket replacements often available too.
