JDM import Golfs

I am looking for a second car and a golf fits the bill nicely. I have found a nice one with the right spec but it’s a JDM import. The dealer has switched out the Speedo and mileometer. But has also switched out the original Japanese screen for a head unit with reversing camera and car play. This all sounds OK but I was wondering whether any important functionality is lost in doing this. Does anyone have experience of this?

Sorry ETA is a 2012 car mk6 1.4Tsi for with the larger size screen rather than the small display

Desparate to hear how you get on with this Import . As you may or may not know Jaguars are being Imported from Japan and have been sold especially in the London Area for some time . The trouble is that there isn't any great saving on the Purchase Price over the Domestic Market Cars , is it any different with the Golf ?

Hmmm good question. There seems to be a small discount in the cars I am looking at and generally lower mileage. I am going to look at one tomorrow if all goes to plan. The thing that concerns me is the head set integration. I am not keen on touch screens in cars and I find aftermarket stuff far too blingy for my taste

No problem for the car, the steering wheel controls should all work plus the better units display a parking sensor display, rear camera, heater control functions etc. It will flag on a diagnostic that the radio is missing but that's no issue.

Well I can report that the car was not as described. It was in lovely nick but It didnt have all the extras listed, one of which I particularly wanted, plus the reversing camera integration was via a camera on a bracket by the number plate when he specifically told me it was a factory fit . So after. 11/2 hr drag across Essex in the pissing rain on my last half day of holiday left.

There seem to be hundreds of these on E bay and they all have swapped out head units . That’s not an issue. The car was great, but the stty implementation of the reversing camera really put me off.

No offence but you could have seen that from the pictures and saved wasting your time.
