Hi,
I am looking to get a 2020/21 B9.5 A4 avant TFSI petrol. I want the manual gearbox but VAG only seem to do the '35' model (150bhp) with the manual gearbox.

So I am thinking of getting a remap to around 230bhp, which everyone offers.
I want to make sure that the gearbox/ clutch is able to cope with the increase in torque of a map (from 270nm to 400nm) but can't find any information anywhere on the net. I can't even find a 'model number' of the gearbox fitted to these. Loads of info about the auto but nothing regarding the manual.

Any information would be appreciated.

You're firmly in "suck it and see" territory there.

Audi did for a period sell that chassis with the 190PS 2.0, a manual, and front wheel drive:

You could look up and see if the clutch friction plate is shared. They had a factory 320NM.

I've driven one of those with a map and honestly, the traction and torque steer issues were pretty annoying. Went well by the time it was in 4th!

There's a tendency with a lot of "remap" tuners to chase numbers over driveability. All the torque limiters turned off, maximum boost as often as possible. Very aggressive throttle response. This type of software will also eat clutches. Have a frank conversation with someone about what you're looking for and gauge their response. Tell them you want a factory feeling map that isn't going to blow the tyres off or torque steer everywhere. There's probably little point in asking for more than standard oomph in 1st and 2nd as you'll spin it all away (the ECU limits boost in these gears as standard).

Thanks for the reply.

The '45' model from the factory provides almost the same bhp and torque as the remap I am looking at, so as the engine is the same ( I think), it is only the clutch and gearbox which is different (as the '45' is dsg only).

I have seen something on the net about 400nm for the manual (from an audi technical pdf) but am not sure if it is the same gearbox.

I am going to try and get an answer from Audi technical.
