As above fuel pressure, see; http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16471/P00...Hope someone can give me the answer

One possible reason could be as per my Son's 2011 Golf 1.4 tsi (petrol) on which, the fuel pump controller failed intermittently and this was the error given. When it failed the car would stop dead after the fuel that was in the system had been used, normally a minute or two after startup but it could also be running slow and so limiting the fuel supply/pressure?
The controller is a small plug-in relay/box device on top of the fuel tank/pump under the right-side of the rear seat, basically it controls the speed of the 'lift' pump - the pump that lifts the fuel from the tank to the high-pressure injection pump.
I don't know but would assume that the diesel engine has a similar setup? if so, can you hear the pump cycle for a few seconds when you turn on the ignition?
