507.00 spec oil
Discussion
I've just got rid of my trusty Exeo which had managed 190k, and got a new A6 with the 2L TDI in it. Wanting to change the oil more frequently than the 20k official intervals and I was expecting to be able to use the same 5W30LL castrol edge oil, however, the A6 specifies 0W30.
Both are 507.00, just the cold weight is different. My guess is this is for the emmissions? Am I OK to use the 5W30 still?

507 is 5w30
508 is 0w20
Sorry for crap pic; it's in a bag because it's leaking:
Send me your reg or chassis and I'll confirm the oil spec on erwin.
Thats very kind, PM with Reg sent.508 is 0w20

That's what I thought, but the sticker under the bonnet is definitely showing 0W30, and the can of topup oil which came with the car is also 0W30.
You can get VW507.00 in 0W30 - Opie Oil lists a few, and here's Quantum (TPS's brand) version: https://tps.trade/info/oil/quantum-longlife
I do think that generally VW Group dealers put 5W30 in everything, especially if on fixed interval servicing. A SEAT dealer was adamant it was right for daughter's Ateca when SEAT specificially say it needs 0W20 (VW508) regardless of the servicing regime (because of emissions).

Your car is too new for me to look up on a reg (would need chassis) but here's another '23 2.0 TDI A6:As confusing as you like, but 0w30 is correct by the factory manual. I wouldn't risk putting the "wrong" oil in, would only give Audi a reason to refuse a warranty claim.
Just got some from ECP. Worked out about £55 per 5L, so about twice the price I used to pay for the 5W-30.
I used to change the oil every 6k in the last car, but don't think I'll be keeping this one nearly as long so will probably go for 9k or so.
I imagine even sticking to the manufacturer 18k changes it would be absolutely fine to 150k miles or so, but it's a (relatively) cheap investment.
Now need to look at the S-tronic gearbox...

Always better to buy in bulk if you like to change regularly.
Think this is the one.
