2015 Transporter 2.0 tdi (114bhp) - remap?
Discussion
My (very) trusted independent garage is offering and recommending a remap of this engine on my new to me van. They have looked after our cars for 14 years and I have a high level of trust with them.
The garage has a 2.5 and a 2.0 transporter as work vehicles and claim both increased mpg and increased power. Apparently nicer to drive. Apparently both of them have 120k and 170k/5 years and 9 years since remap without any issues.
This is for a Stage 1 'Economy' remap (economy refers to MPG, not price) and they suggest 10% or more increase in MPG. Cost would be £250+VAT.
What are the pitfalls and what should I be aware of?
Is the gain in MPG realistic? £300 is a *lot* of extra MPG's needed to payback...

Depends how you drive it as to the mpg improvement.
Normally you dont get any issues if you drive it sensibly but obviously extra strain can be put on the clutch and gearbox etc if you are heavy footed.
You have to be careful with choosing someone to map it as they are not all good and can cause problems, always better to go to someone reputable rather than a man in a van.
Ive had a few vehicles done and they have all been transformed to be fair and been much more pleasant to drive.
