Hi,
Have a CR140 in a Mk6 Golf.

Car is on 172k, and original turbo.
I am guessing this could the next big bill...

No smoke or the "Owl" sound, and not burning off oil.

Have always done the oil early - so about 8k intervals.
Let the engine idle for a bit before driving, and try not to go over 2k / use full throttle till up to temp.

Maybe I have been an A* student on how to look after a turbo.
Or maybe just lucky??? ...

Thanks

I thought a failing turbo make a sort of "Owl" noise...

Oh yes that sounds potentially expensive!

You're lucky you are on the original turbo! My Scirocco CR140 had a new one just before I bought it on 127k.

You do look after it ,so probably prolonged the misery.

Passat CR140 here on 145k. Owned since 54.

I dont even think about the turbo and it gets used hard sometimes, no signs of problems.

All my diesels have always been used hard and never had a DPF/Turbo problem yet. My theory is regular hard driving keeps em good.

That being said, watch it being the next thing I have to deal with.

CR140s are pretty good here. The older PD engines less so.

With continued good maintenance and mechanical sympathy the turbo will last a long time.

I think making sure its not on the long life servicing helps too. Mine was when I got it at 50k and I immediately switched it over.
