OK, we are talking 10yrs, lots of miles. How much life can you expect out of a correctly annually serviced low bhp (105bhp) 1.6 engine?

I'm buying at 68kmiles and don't want to be left with a pup in 20kmiles time!

Almost impossible to say but a well serviced engine should last well past 100 k miles and many more.
The clutch/dmf, turbo, egr system etc are the biggest concern really on a diesel engine and can start to get expensive should problems occur.

If it’s a DSG the box will cause issues before the engine will.

No, the engine is absolute rubbish. I would avoid that engine, and a DSG box with a good degree of enthusiasm.

You do see them with high miles on tbf, o took mine from 62k t0 120+ in 3years before getting wrote off paperbag with the only "other" bill being an egr valve. Ask me about injectors though.

I ran one as a private hire taxi up to about 100k no engine issues other than an oxygen sensor it was over serviced though and ran on decent fuel.

As I’ve said earlier DQ200 box was the issue. It was needing a clutch pack change but a strange noise at speed was the decision to get rid before anything went pop.
