2016 A6 AllRoad.

As per thread title, how to refill the Adblue using a pump? With a bottle / canister is possible, but the pumps on the forecourt, even the most gingerley squeezed, constantly cut-out (back pressure I presume) making it impossible.
Last effort, I managed to squeeze 91p of AdBlue in before losing patience.

I have heard of a 'magnetic collar' or similar.

Advise please smile

I have never done it. I just buy the 10litre one from screwfix as its so cheap and tip it in. I have always felt it was easier.

Sorry thats no help.

Same here; I'd always assumed the filling station pumps were targeted to commercials with far larger apetites for the stuff.

I cover 30-40k a year in my Transit Custom which goes thru 20l of Adblu every 5k or so, I always use an Adblu pump as it’s much cheaper.
The pumps are becoming more popular and I do sometimes use the HGV one, never had any problems.

Our local garage has an AdBlue pump which works fine. Once a year I stick £20 in at the pump while I'm getting Diesel. It's a new garage so don't know if they are using newer/better pumps? Probably cheaper than buying a canister of the stuff at Asda but I'm all about less hassle than I am saving money. Is it not just the garage (old equipment) you're using?

I use the HGV one for my van. It is a pain to fill but usually manage to get a steady trickle going in.

It’s about half the price of the 10l containers they sell.

Could you fill an empty ad-blue container from the pump at full flow rate?

Don’t see why not.

Was at a BP station earlier they had a pump that was hgv one side and cars the other.

Suppose I should say "don't" with reference to the HGV pumps; I don't think there's a single station around me with a car one:

Can I top up with a pump for heavy goods vehicles?

The particular features of AdBlue® pumps for heavy goods vehicles make them unusable on light vehicles. The AdBlue® tank openings on light vehicles are not adapted to the magnetised end piece of the AdBlue® pumps for heavy goods vehicles, nor to the high flow rate of these pumps.
Light vehicles must always be topped up using the pumps specially for light vehicles or the cans on sale in the store.
They all have a rack of bottles outside instead.

Don't have a diesel anymore but my Wife's old Q2 only needed 2 x 10L top ups in 4 years and, at £10 delivered (Amazon) I'd not be fretting too much about saving a few pence...
