Audi A4 avant 35 tfsi
Discussion
Jumping around quite a bit with what car I'm going to end up buying and currently looking at a nearly new A4 avant 35 tfsi.
It seems to be the lowest powered engine of the bunch, is it good enough for the car or is it as underpowered as I think it will be?
Anyone had one with this engine able to comment on what it was like?

The current engine code of Audi has me confused, but apparently 35 means 150bhp. I had a '18 plate A4 Avant with the small 1.4 turbo motor which i ran for 3 years. This was. according to the V5 , a Sport 150 so I think it could be the same engine.
I used it as a load-lugger on local roads only (no motorways) but the performance was more than adequate for my needs. Like most small-capacity petrol engines, the turbo kicked in when the pedal was floored and I had no problem getting past tractors and buses. Fuel consumption was OK-ish but I have a heavy foot. I admit I would have preferred a 2.0 diesel, but the price was attractive. It's a lot of car for the money. It ate tyres for fun.

It's a 1.5, 150bhp.
I ran one in an Arteon for 4 years. It's ok, laggy and absolutely no mid range. A re-map would probably do it wonders.
Easy to get over 50mpg on a run and caused me no issues in over 60k miles.
Presume the same engine as in the 35tfsi Q2, i.e. a 1.5L, 4cyl turbo?I ran one in an Arteon for 4 years. It's ok, laggy and absolutely no mid range. A re-map would probably do it wonders.

If so, it moves our Q2 around nicely but I would think it might labour in an A4 Avant (but then my A4 Avant is an S4 so I would say that).
I can say it's a very smooth engine though, I often think it's stopped (has start/stop) when it hasn't, is fairly economical and sounds decent when pushed.
Hadn't thought about a remap yet...
