How can you tell if an A4 really is a 130 tdi?
Saturday 3rd September 2005
I'm being offered an A4 Avant tdi 130 SE. What are the visual differences between the 130 and the 110 (or 115, which ever it is).
I want to be sure I'm not being duped.

Reg doc normally states IIRC

Max net power is blank and it doesn't say anywhere else.
Did the 130 come with a six speed box and the 115 with a 5 speed or something fundamental like that?

I think your right on the above point. but not 100%, in the service book in will quote on the white sticker in the front with the vin etc a 'xxkw' figure will also be included, if you refer to the owners manual, or you know the formula relating to bhp this will tell you

On Golfs/Boras/Passats :
if the TDI is all red it's a 150bhp
if just the DI is red it's a 130bhp
and if just the I is red it's a 115/110bhp
I've driven a 115bhp Bora TDI and that had a 6 speed box.....
Not sure if this helps though for Audi's ?

Thanks, but I'm told both the 115 and 130 bhp Audis have only a red I.
I've looked in the service book and it says 96KW. Anyone any idea what that translates to in old money?

Just checked on Audi's website. 85kw is 115, so by calculation, 96kw is 130bhp.
Happy bunny!
Thanks for everyone's help.
However, there must be a fundamental difference between them otherwise everyone would be painting flogging their 115s as 130s and no one would know!
