Virtual cockpit with waze?

AFAIK, from my Wife's Q2 the virtual dash can only show the Audi satnav map, waze, google and all carplay stuff show only on the centre display.

The R8 has no central display, just the Virtual Cockpit.

Waze works, but only in the Apple Carplay "window" in the centre of the display - not as good as the Audi Maps where they use the whole virtual cockpit display.

I understand there's a new CarPlay update imminent that will work across multiple screens? BMW for some reason aren't running with it but maybe Audi will?

TT and R8 can do it; there's a slim chance one of the retrofit boys have figured out a way to transfer this functionality.

I seem to remember the issue isn't a lack of technology per-se, but more of an issue of manufacturers not wanting to give CarPlay (and the others) access to CAN bus, I can imagine why, having a connection between potentially insecure smart phones and CAN bus is scary given it can control vehicle brakes.

More likely compatibility; it needs to work in any car and virtual cockpit is a weird shaped display.

I prefer it on the larger dash screen and to leave the instrument cluster for vehicle functions, personally.
