Anyone got Travel Assist on a newish Skoda?

Speccing a vRS on thier site and the entry for travel assist says

"Includes traffic sign recognition, adaptive lane assist, predictive adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist. DSG engines also have emergency assist.
Features included in the package: Adaptive cruise control (with "follow-to-stop") and speed limiter"

However when I download the config sheet it has Lane Assist greyed out. The bit I'm interested in is Adaptive Lane Assist, having had in a rental Kia Ceed recently and loved it.

I would imagine Lane Assist is a standard feature on all Octavia's, check he brochure of the entry level model to confirm.

Is lane assist just the basic warning bit and advanced lane assist the steering bit though?

I've had several rental cars with the annoying system that tries to crash the car for you if you dare to cross a white line without indicating, but the Ceed had that, plus an extra mode that put in small steering inputs to keep you centered in the lane. It's the latter that I'm interested and hate the former.

Most of the more recent cars in the group have lane assist that tugs on the steering wheel if you stray too close to the line. due to how much I hate this feature i've never specced one with advanced as turning off the standard feature is part of my routine when i get in the car now.

I was going to say same as above - see lots of negative comments about lane assist in VW Group cars.

I've only experienced it in courtesy cars - must admit I had a WTF! moment the first time it intervened (within moments of driving off) but after that it didn't bother me.

By the way - you do realise the car config you linked to just breaks the £40K (so higher VED for 5yrs) barrier, don't you?

Yeah, the system you describe is annoying as hell, but the proper one that gently steers the car to stay in the lane is bloody brilliant on long drives, so trying to figure out if that's what the advance lane assist actually is and if it works ok. The trouble is you can't guarantee a demo car on a test drive will have the feature either.

It does as you describe, keeps you in the lane when adaptive cruise is on.
Mine is 2021.

I do think it has improved over the last 2 years with some software updates.

I've never turned it off and I can't remember the last time it tugged the wheel, but it used to do this for sure.

Mine has also had a new steering wheel as the hold sensors failed.
This results in 'Travel Assist Not Available' error as it cannot detect your hands on the wheel.

I would not have one of these out of warranty!

That's a slight worry as I've had my current Octavia over 12 years and only had a couple of relatively minor problems with it. I would plan to keep my next car as long.

Yes it's Golf 8, Skoda Octavia and Seat Leon

O.P. re. Warranty I requested an extra years free from Skoda which they have given.

There's too much to go wrong with sensors etc. The self leveling led headlights also packed up after 12 months so that was another warranty fix.
