MK1 Golf engine swap questions.
Discussion
I am becoming more and more paranoid about my 22yr old, 156k mile engine.
If I start it when its warm, it sounds like an Impreza on tickover (quite cool, but it really shouldn't do that, should it??)
Also, under load, from 2k-3k rpm, it has quite a loud "deisel" rattle. Other than that, its fine.
Anyway, I am planning for the future really, but can anyone recommend anywhere that would consider swapping my 1.8 8v for perhaps a MK3 2.0 8v? Or a 16v if one can be found for the right money.
Any suggestions??
Cheers,
Ed

IMHO waste of cash going for Mk3 2.0 8v, the 16v a much much better option, when RR set up & remapped & as you don't need a cat they get in the 180bhp area, = makes mk1s gorprety darn well!
These guys do lots.
