Hi all,

Thinking of getting a new VW golf GTI for the mrs and wanted to know if there are any major issues I should be looking out for I couldn't find anything online. Also what are VW service costs on the new GTi as I the VW only has like service plans with a monthly fee.

thanks

B

Avoid a 2020 car like the plague and if possible you want a very late 2021 build onwards

Hopefully looking at a 2023 car. I just want to know simple things like how to switch lane assist and some of the nanny aids of last time I had a GTi was the MK2 16V

Switch lane assist off by pushing in the end of the left stalk, then pressing ok then pressing the end of the stalk again.

Lots of software problems with these, and steering wheel sensors fail and sos module, front recognition camera to.
I had 2 new steering wheels in 18 months of ownership of which the second one took 6 months for dealer to get hold of just says how common the problem is.
Best to do some searching on these 2 problems and make your own mind up.
I'm not convinced even the newest models are fixed tbh.

The mk7.5 facebook group used to just be everyone complaining about all the problems with their cars, they sounded like a nightmare.

seems to have died down a bit now though
