Mk5 VW Golf AC Issues - any ideas or good specialist?
Discussion
My wife has Mk 2.0 Golf GT that she loves. It's a bit of a work horse and a little tired, but mostly works.
Recently it has developed and issue where when the interior temperature is high (22-23 degrees), all the vents in the car will shut or at least air stops coming out of them. This also happens if you hit the recirculation button. You can hear "hollow" sound from the blower, it is clearly still blowing, but inside the dash.
If you then push "Econ" the flap seems to re-open and cold air comes out. If the temperature is still high, then the vents will shut again.
I have tried flap reset procedure which doesn't help.
I changed the pollen filter, which briefly sorted it out, but with the high temperatures it is back.
I figure it is a sensor or something, which I could probably change.
But does anyone know a good VAG AC specialist.
I have little faith in our local "specialist" after they told me there was no water leak when my wife took the car in whilst I was away. £90 later and the car threw a "no water" a week later. Bit of leak tracing and it was degraded connector.
Help gratefully received.
Thanks

Would benefit you to code read the system first to see if any faults are logged, vcds is very good for this but expensive just for one job.
A basic check is to see if the air con pump pulley is intact and turning the inner shaft as they can seperate.
