What to do with a poorly Black ed. A4 TFSI Avant

hi folks,
so a good pal of mine has had the 2011 a4 for few years and it recently decided its dsg gearbox was upset. Its been to the go to Audi indy garage in Edinburgh, then referred to the Glasgow one and requires major work, too expensive to consider. So its a avg condition great car with 100k or so & full hstory, that suddenly is very unsellable.
Anyone got any suggestions best way to give it an opportunity of selling to someone who might be interested for parts or fix? Auction maybe?

ebay and be honest/detailed.

That's what I've always done with "dead" cars and generally got pretty good money. Some to breakers, some as projects.
