Poor service from Audi dealer
Discussion
Hi there. The air conditioning in our Q4 Etron isn't blowing cold air.
After waiting 3 months to book into our local Audi dealership they told us that there is an Audi Technical Service Bulliting which states this is a known issue, and there is no current fix. So they say thier hands are tied and they cant fix it, and they also can't tell us when it will be fixed.
Does anyone have access to check if this Technical Service Bulliting exisits? The local dealers told us to talk to audi uk, and that was that. Can't say im too hapy with Audi.

Is it they know what the issue is or they don’t have the means to test.

Thanks for that - So they told me that the TSB states there is no fix to my issue, and that audi are looking into it, and until audi find a fix there's nothing they can do. They mentioned that the issue requires some kind of software update. Is it they know what the issue is or they don’t have the means to test.

Although no specific mention of the Q4. I don,t know if what we use at work gives tsb’s but I’ll look on Monday.

Neither of those TPIs will be the one the dealer are referring to.
I'm not at work until Friday, but if you PM me your chassis I'd be able to check if what they're saying is correct when I'm next in.

With newer models/products a fault sometimes emerges that needs a "proper" fix, that is slow to emerge. Even once the issue is figured out there's a huge lag of parts/software/process to reach the end user. Sometimes even see a production/sales stop for more serious things, but that's not feasible when the car is already with customer.
TSBs more commonly appear all of a piece, where the document goes online and says this is the problem and this is how you fix it.
Plenty of cases too where a problem that the internet suggests is common has zero acknowledgement from manufacturer up until the above appears out of the blue one day.

Audi seem to be top of the shop for software updates, our son calls about an update, “We will get back to you sir”, they never do, when he goes in the dealers and asks, “We have no idea sir when it’s coming out” is the general answer.
Some of his friends have cancelled cars with Audi, waited too long, and gave up.
Personally I am old school get in, start engine, radio on and go, so many gizmo’s these days.

Here you go:
Carrying out software adaptation (effectively the process of installing/calibrating a new part) appears to offer a temporary fix. Ask if this has been done and/or can be done.
Thanks for this. Our dealer is adamant there is nothing they can do, which seems to be correct according to that document.Carrying out software adaptation (effectively the process of installing/calibrating a new part) appears to offer a temporary fix. Ask if this has been done and/or can be done.
So where does this leave us then? Are we just expected to wait until/if Audi find a fix? Seems mad to me that it's acceptable for Audi to basically say "tough luck" when the car is under warranty.

Read the "notice" section - carrying out initial adaptations on the compressor may give a temporary fix. Ask your dealer if this can be attempted.caymanbill said:

Yup. I suppose there's a slim chance you could wrangle a courtesy car, but if the problem is widespread there won't be enough to go around.Dr G said:

Thanks for the info. I asked if there's any chance they could provide a curtesy car and it was a firm no.Must say we're disapointed in Audi. Not what I expect from a so called premium brand.

My job is Audi, but I avoid "new cars" so for the most part skirt around teething issues, and can avoid anything that is guaranteed to be a headache.I only need to deal with Audi (and their dealers) occasionaly but very much dislike having to do so. I feel your pain on this.
Have you already involved customer service? This too can be pretty painful, and will involve jumping through some hoops but it's the only other step forward from where you are.
I would also ask the dealer very specifically (and don't accept a dimwit answer from the service advisor) to attempt adaptation of the compressor. Be a polite, but firm and persistent thorn in their side. Squeaky wheel and all that.
