I took delivery of a Cupra Leon Estate VZ2 Phev yesterday and I don’t want to derail the leasing thread with questions, so here goes:

I think I have the auto dip in reverse for the passenger rear mirror finally set up. For this to work I think the toggle needs to be in L position. This leaves me a bit confused about how the heated mirrors work? Do I have to move the toggle to heated mirrors? Are they not automatic? And if I move the toggle to heated mirrors setting does this means the reversing mirror dip won’t work?

Is it possible to have the car auto lock when you walk away? My last car did this and now I keep forgetting to lock it.

I’ve set the Cupra connect app up but get the error message shown when trying to lock/unlock the car. Is there any way to fix this without visiting a dealer?

Where can I find gesture control settings? I saw something about them once but can’t seem to find anything now.

Thanks in advance.

I've had the same car for a bit over a year so here goes...

Heated mirrors on VAG cars I've always twisted it round to the heated position when I need them and then twisted back to L to get the dip. They might come on automatically with temperature or with heated rear screen but not sure. On the PHEV I don't think I've ever actually had to use this method so they may be automatic or it might be that they get heated while the car pre heats.

Don't think you can make it auto lock. Sounds like a bad idea to be honest. Just touch the bit on the door handle and use the mirrors as a reminder.

For remote lock/unlock you need a dealer to confirm identity for security reasons. I haven't bothered.

Never noticed gesture control but highly doubt it works very well!

Thanks. That clears a few thing up. I was after the gesture control setting as I think I keep activating something where the car starts asking me what I want for no apparent reason and I want to turn it off. Now I think about it it may actually be voice control.

I had a Renault Captur as "temporary" car while waiting for the Cupra. I ended up waiting 22 months. The auto lock was brilliant. I've got that used to it I keep forgetting to lock the Cupra, hence wanting the access in the app as I have to keep going back to the car to lock it.

I also thought of another question. Is there a speed camera warnings setting anywhere? I have android auto and they don't even show on this, whereas they were on both the internal nav and android auto in the Renault.

Ah yes that's the voice control thinking you've said "hola, hola". There's a setting to turn it off so you just use the steering wheel button.

No speed camera warnings I've found. Waze shows them via AA and can be wireless though.

Agree with everything blank has said. e-Monitor shows the heated mirrors affecting range by circia 2 miles, so it's probably best just to put them on when you need them rather than all the time.

There's a settings (in the main settings on the infotainment) to disable the voice command trigger word. First thing I disabled, as it would randomly activate. You can still use it by short pressing the talk button on the steering wheel.

Don't know about speed cameras unfortunately, but I would check your software version in the settings. Mine came with 1898 a month ago and I would experience random reboots. Booked it in with the dealer and since I've been on 1940, no issues and I can get rid of the red notification dot that I couldn't before.

Didn't ask the dealer when I was there about remote lock/unlock but the rest of the app works fine for me so I'm happy.

Sorry I also thought of another question. There is a setting for battery percent for e functions. I think you can change it from 0 to 50%. Is this a setting so pre heating of car and windscreen etc won't happen if battery is below a certain value? If so what happens if battery is zero? Does the car auto start or does it use the 12v battery?

I never had this option on the Renault. With that car of the battery was below a certain level pre conditioning wouldn't work, but you couldn't choose the level.

I think that's minimum charge level.

This is the level it will charge to as soon as it's plugged in. Then it will wait to off peak / departure schedule to charge the rest.

I leave mine at 0 so it does all charging off peak. If you want to force it to charge you can hit "charge now" on the screen or start via the app.

It will only pre condition if plugged in. Unless you activate "use HV battery" then it will do it when not plugged in. Not sure what happens if the battery gets to zero when pre conditioning off battery as I tend to plug mine in

I highly doubt it would ever run the engine to pre condition as it would be dangerous if the car was in a garage or similar

I have mine set to 0 for the same reason, with peak electric being around 31p Kwh it is still generally cheaper than petrol but marginally, so on the rare occasion I run out of juice I just run it on petrol and charge overnight.

If the battery is empty the car just won't pre condition. Mine also doesn't pre condition when charging via the granny charger - just states insufficient current in the app. I might try reducing the charging current and seeing if that makes it work.

I do have pre-condition via the battery enabled though, it does eat range but it is nice to activate in the app when leaving work on a warm day. You can also set it to pre condition when you open the door before driving off.

Are you happy with the car overall? I must admit I was anxious that I might miss the power of my MK3 290 that it replaced but I really haven't. It's a bit sluggish when the battery is empty and running on ICE alone but that hasn't happened very often.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it as the PHEV suits my usage perfectly (free charging at work, 20 mile round trip, charger at home).

I went from a MK3 as well (mine was the ST so 300PS 4wd). You just have to accept it's a completely different league in performance. Most of my driving is on EV so what 120PS to play with? I find it fine, just don't bother overtaking!

Mine was a bit of a lemon and I've had more issues than with any other car, but when it's working it's great.

Can you answer a question for me, please.

I live in a hilly area & no matter in which direction I go from my house I will be in 30 or 40 limits climbing hills at least 1 in 15 & some are 1 in 10. Will the car start the engine when climbing up these hills?

I don't think so. If it's in EV mode and the battery has enough charge, the engine will only kick in if you use the kickdown switch or go over about 75 mph.

Where I live is pretty flat but I've done some pretty hilly journeys in Cornwall on full EV without the engine starting.

The electric motor is circa 110hp so has ample power to get you up the hills alone (assuming sufficient charge). It does absolutely eat into the range though, but don't panic if it does as it will regen back assuming you come back down the hill. It really depends how.you drive, In this warmer weather I can easily get low 30s on electric alone, but the wife and her heavy foot is usually in the 2. miles per KWh range.

I posted the following on another forum on the subject which might help.

"I took my Cupra PHEV to work yesterday on a 15 mile commute there and back. There is quite an elevation gain over the hills, but don't forget that the battery will regen quite notably as you go down the other side.

After 8 miles of my commute I was down to the mid-teens in terms of range, but then this increased by a couple of miles as I went down the hill. It used very little power and the battery was recharged by the motor, resulting in 57% of battery still being available by the time I'd completed 15 miles.

Going the other way, I'm now going back up the elevation gain and my range quickly drops from 18 miles to 4, with less than 5/6 or miles completed. However, once you start going back down the hill this increased and maintained for the rest of the journey. I finished with 6 miles of range and 17%."

Hello all, last ditch attempt to see if anyone has found a Cupra dealer to do the £99 2 service offer? I have tried a few, but pretty much all don't return the call! I'm resigned to paying full price! I did try to get Zen to help too but no luck! Thanks all!!

I think the £99 offer may have finished? Showing as £594 now on the Cupra website for Level 1. They usually have offers on throughout the year though, so might be best waiting for a fixed price deal.

I purchase mine through Holders of Congresbury in Somerset, which is a Seat dealer if that helps.

I managed to get it set up through Bolton Cupra last Thursday. It was all done over the phone. It was very hard to get my call returned though, it took a few attempts. I also reached out to Preston Cupra and they emailed me asking for lots of info, such as driving licence and secondary proof of address etc. but thankfully Bolton Cupra called me back in time. I've no idea why they required so info compared to Bolton Cupra. My supplying dealer also wanted lots of info such as employment history before saying they couldn't do it on a lease car.

Has anyone noticed if listening to music on android auto, if you park up and turn the engine off you can no longer alter the volume. I only use android auto so don't know if this is for everything. It's quite annoying as usually when you stop the music can appear louder than when you are driving, but you have to start the car again to turn it down, or open the door.

I'm also struggling with locking and unlocking the car. I've got used to having to touch the door sensor to lock, but still on occasions I will come back to the car and one pull of the handle opens the door. My thinking is that if the car is locked the first pull unlocks it and then you have to pull it again to open the door. Is this correct?

Also the other night I locked the car and walked away. The interior lights and dashboard LED all stayed lit. I pressed lock on the remote (in case I had forgotten to lock) and left it a few minute s and they were still lit up. I went out and opened and closed all doors and boot (none were slightly open). I locked the car and walked away and this time after a few seconds all lights went dark.

EDIT: And am I right that Google maps only shows speed cameras if you have a route programmed in? I could swear my pervious car showed them even if just viewing the map.

Hello, hope I'm still welcome here with my tiny boot.

Really like the car, build quality is a step up from my previous Tesla, if not the speed.

Quick question, how long did it take for everyone's app to work? Mine still only shows really basic information and I can't make myself the primary driver on it.

Hoping once that works, then the car might start to recognise me and not default everything, everytime I get in.
