Hi all,
Looking at buying an S8 as this looks like a fantastic bargain for the type of driving I do - mainly motorway cruising from London-Cornwall or to Cheshire.
Could anyone who owns one give me an idea of the running costs, I know about the fuel economy but how much is a service, tyres etc.
Also any problems worth looking out for on a 60-70k miler, I've heard there is a big service due at 80k.

It's well worth heading over to www.tyresmoke.net as they have quite a busy A8/S8 forum there. I'm considering buying a late 90s A8 or S8 myself, and it would seem that the running costs aren't as bad as you might imagine, as long as you stick with specialists rather than main dealers.
The big service to look out for is at around 80K, and can cost £1600+ at a main dealer, so budget for it if it hasn't been done, and haggle on that point. For insurance, try Admiral. For some reason, they insure the A8 comparatively cheaply.
