Considering a TT to replace our MX5 ND and we're a bit concerned that it won't fit through our garage door. Do the wing mirrors fold? Please could anyone confirm the overall width?

Sticks.

The Mk3 Coupe is 1832mm wide, and no different to the convertible as far as I can see. Folding mirrors are an option I believe.

I've only been a passenger of an MX% but I suspect the way they drive is very different.

Thanks… I’ll get the tape measure. We’re doing longer journeys these days so fancy a bit more refinement. 5’s are brilliant for zooming around the lanes, but I reckon a TT might well be preferable for longer European journeys.

Agreed, I think they're much better at A roads and motorways than as a B road fun car. Seats are good for long journeys, I never arrive feeling uncomfortable (Mk2 was even more comfy). And on A road trips I can get 38-40mpg which isn't too shabby (DSG). Of all the cars I've had there's the least niggles/design issues, other than useless reversing lights and water drips in the boot if you open it when it's been raining (so get a boot liner, and luggage net while you're there). And it's pity the seats don't slide forward when you tilt them to make rear seat access easier. Still, no biggie.
